Digital Listening Library
Coming soon!
TJMF Collaborates with Sherry Mayrent, the Mayrent Institute, and the Klezmer Academy to establish a listening library. Being able to hear the old edison recordings and 78 records is a fantastic initiative that adds another layer of richness to our community's engagement with Yiddish music and culture. It is essential to listen to the music in order to play it. Sherry Mayrent and the Mayrent Institute brings a wealth of expertise in Yiddish music. Their involvement ensures that the listening library is curated with a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and musical significance of the materials.
Print Library
Maintaining a library of books about Yiddish music and culture is a valuable resource for your community, especially in conjunction with your community music school. The library serves as an educational resource for individuals interested in learning more about Yiddish music and culture. Students at your community music school can explore these books to deepen their understanding of the historical and cultural context of the music they are studying.
Storytelling through puppets
At the Traditional Jewish Music Foundation, our commitment to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Yiddish arts knows no bounds. One of our cherished initiatives is the "Existence is resistance" Yiddish Puppet Theater. Utilizing the enchanting power of song, skillfully crafted puppets, and captivating narratives, this theater transports audiences to a time when the Jewish community faced immense adversity during World War II.
